Hawthorn is used in people and animals to support the circulatory system, and is thought to help keep blood vessels dilated. Hawthorn contains the compound ‘Rutin’, the flavonoid that has been shown to aid flexibility and strength of blood vessels.
Hawthorn suggested uses include:
arrhythmias,
circulatory disorders,
congestive heart failure (CHF),
hyperlipidemia,
indigestion, and
tapeworm infections.
Double blind studies confirm Hawthorns effect in increasing coronary circulation, it has also been shown in studies to reduce blood lipid (fat) levels
